When times got tough for a lot of new home builders, they turned to the remodeling business to keep food on the table.  When Architects get hit by the recession they turn to manufacturing modular homes.  There are even some Architects that tried building mods before the recession hit and failed miserably.

That brings me to Ma Modular.  Here is an architectural firm that decided that what this country needed was another MK inspired house that looks like refurbished shipping containers.

They ask the website visitor what makes Ma Modular different from the rest of the mod factories.  They build an affordable mod that is all-inclusive with plumbing, electric and appliances.  And it only takes 180 days to build one for you.  Oh, did I forget to mention that they are in every state except Alaska and Hawaii.  And I almost forgot the best part...they've actually built one house!

Compared to other mod factories that can build a home for you in 6 days or less, include numerous options besides the IKEA crap that Ma Modular offers, have complete plumbing and electrical systems and usually can only deliver a home within a 200 mile radius of the factory, then I guess they are different.

Don't these Architects realize that even if they built 4 houses a year by subbing out the work to  local standard modular factories, their costs will eat them alive.  But what do I know.  I'm not an Architect.

Great post, I think the small factories are alot more quality orientated.
