Despite a fragile housing market, and being in the city with the highest unemployment in Virginia, Nationwide Homes in Martinsville is increasing its production by 30 percent in the next month.

"There just seems to be a larger demand for modular housing than (traditional) built housing than we've seen in a long time," said Dan Goodin, the Sales Vice President for Nationwide Homes.

Nationwide said they are backlogged with new home orders through January.  Part of that growth means putting people back to work.

Nationwide plans on adding 20 to 30 new employees to their production plant in Martinsville, over the next 30 days.
