Modular Home Section Falls Off Truck

A tractor-trailer hauling a modular home through eastern Contra Costa tipped over Thursday morning, dropping the house into the roadway and blocking all lanes of county Highway 4, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It wasn't yet clear how the crash occurred, but the house fell into a field by the side of the road, the officer said.  Modular Home Builder couldn’t find out which factory built it.

Traffic was diverted onto a nearby dirt road. No hazmat teams were called to the scene, as little motor oil had spilled, he said.

It wasn't immediately clear how crews would remove the house, but modular buildings tend not to be especially heavy and a big rig tower might be able to handle it, the officer said.
