Housing Starts From 1968 to Present by Year

I found this one of the most interesting tables I've seen showing what the average for each type of housing was from 1968 through 2014. We really have never recovered from the housing recession of 2008.

As for manufactured housing, the Census Bureau stopped keeping records of their sales this past summer. The only thing I can figure is that manufactured (HUD) homes are such a dwindling part of the sales picture that they decided to quit counting them. Or maybe they will be lumped in with auto sales as most of them are sold like cars.

Comparing 2007 with 2014 finds a drop in Single Family from 78% of the total in 2007 to 66% in 2014 while Multi-Family increased from 16% in 2007 to a whopping 28% in 2014. Manufactured housing remained constant at 6% of the total each year.
