Blu Homes Employees Appear to Have Love/Hate Relationship

I was asked today if I had heard that Blu Homes just laid off 35 employees. I have not and neither could I not find a single thing anywhere that they had layoffs in the past year. This rumor is not new and I will not be part of it.

On the other hand I do follow modular home factory employee reviews on Glassdoor, a job listing service and have been amused by what happens when an employee makes a scathing review of Blu Homes. First there is a derogatory post or two by ‘anonymous’ employees followed quickly by several, also ‘anonymous’ reviews saying that Blu Homes is the best place they ever worked. Funny how that happens...every time.

Here are the latest negative employee remarks followed by the positive one.

This 'anonymous' comment quickly followed:

That's because Blu Homes makes every employee sign a closed mouth clause when letting them go. Blu Homes has had 4 sets of layoffs in the year I worked there (6/14 - 6/15) of which I was in the last set which included 1/2 of the Engineering Department and all East Coast operations.

it is not a rumor...it is the truth. And more people have left the company since the layoff. I know from firsthand experience that the VP of marketing has strongly "asked" employees to write positive reviews of Blu on glassdoor and I am highly suspicious that some of the positive reviews she has written herself. I would take all the positive reviews with a grain of salt. For anyone looking into purchasing a Blu home, my advice would be that once your project hits the design phase, ask to leave all other people (sales, project coordinators, etc.) out of the conversation. Speak directly with the design team (designer, engineer, architect, etc.). They will be the most honest and direct with you.
