Preferred Building Systems and Passive Modular Homes

In September 2010, the first modular certified Passive House built in the United States was built by Preferred Building Systems in their Claremont, NH factory in collaboration with Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity and JB Clancy from Albert, Righter & Tittmann Architects.    

It achieved a rating of .43 ACH @ 50 and 4.1 kBTU/SF and is listed on the phius.org website.

A few years ago New England Homes in Greenland, NH, a 50 year old company, merged with LaValley Building Supply and all manufacturing of New England Homes shifted from Greenland, NH to the Claremont Preferred Building Systems plant

In 2012 ar rolling average of PBS homes tested attained a 55 HERS  (51 homes tested).

Yesterday this video of the Preferred Building Systems factory hit my desk and I had to share it with you. If you haven’t approached a TV station to do a video of your factory or a builder setting a modular house, you are missing a valuable marketing and sales tool.
