Presidential Candidate’s Stance on Housing Could Kill Our Industry

If your home isn’t carbon neutral, Elizabeth Warren, if elected President, might not let you build it. And if that means no new homes get built, she’s OK with that.

Her plan for housing, which she said was borne out of the dire predictions scientists have been making, should be alarming for every single family builder and developer in the country..

“That means we’ve got to be willing to do things, for example, like regulation. By 2028, no new buildings, no new houses, without a zero carbon footprint.” she recently said on MSNBC.

Without any knowledge of how to make every single new building in the US Net Zero, she also shows her disregard for the entire construction industry. If she were elected President, these policies would immediately solve construction’s labor shortage as there would be little for high priced Net Zero housing.

Even Dr Ben Carson, Secretary of HUD, would have to take a different approach to solving our country’s affordable housing crisis since Manufactured and Modular housing, which he is pushing to be accepted in all R1 neighborhoods across the country, will implode. HUD homes, which are notoriously a little bit leaky when it comes to energy loss, will have to adhere to Net Zero which would probably increase the cost of a HUD produced home so much that the affordable market they may have been able to help would simply stop buying homes.

To make matters worse, she is not the only candidate wanting to come after new housing as a way to curb global warming. If you work in the construction industry in any capacity, you need to look at EVERY candidate and learn their stance on new construction.
